Welcome to Stand for Children — Arizona’s Election Connection!
For those of us concerned about the future of education in our state, the choices we make in 2010 are especially critical. This year we’re choosing a new Governor, Superintendent of Public Instruction and several new legislators. Stand for Children Arizona asked the candidates where they stood on a number of key education issues and compiled their responses here at Election Connection to help you make an informed choice as an Education Voter.
Stand for Children Arizona developed a set of questions related to education issues and sent them to each of the candidates for Governor, Superintendent of Public Instruction, the State Senate and the State House of Representatives. We received responses from nearly 100 candidates and have published their responses in their entirety so that voters can make an informed choice. To view these candidates’ biographies and their responses to the questionnaire, click on the tabs above. Only those candidates who provided responses to the candidate questionnaire are listed on these pages. For a comprehensive list of all candidates for each office, please download our PDFs below.

What is an Education Voter?
An Education Voter is not defined by their party affiliation, but by a commitment to making sure that education is a high priority for our elected policymakers.
Anyone concerned and interested in improving the quality of education for school children in Arizona is an Education Voter. An Education Voter is concerned with where the candidates stand when it comes to providing adequate funding for our schools, ensuring teacher and principal effectiveness and making sure our next generation is sufficiently prepared to meet the needs of a changing workforce.
An Education Voter is a mom, a dad, a grandparent, a small business owner, a student. An Education Voter is you!

About Stand for Children Arizona
Stand for Children is an education advocacy organization that mobilizes parents, teachers and community members to improve the quality of education for all children.
Since October 2009, Stand for Children—Arizona, has been organizing advocacy teams in the Alhambra, Kyrene and Phoenix Union High School Districts, building a powerful network of voices to call for meaningful investment in education and reform of education policies.
In just a few months’ time, Stand for Children--Arizona has successfully supported the passage of budget override measures in Phoenix Union and Kyrene, helped pass Proposition 100 (a temporary increase in the state sales tax providing additional funding for education) and championed legislation that will move the state closer to an evaluation framework for teachers and principals that will more accurately measure student growth (SB 1040).
With nearly 400 members, Stand for Children—Arizona is building momentum to rewrite the education story for future generations of Arizona school children. For information on how to join us email us at azinfo@stand.org.
